Correctional Officers are responsible for maintaining order, safety, and security within jails, prisons, and other penal institutions. They supervise individuals who have been arrested and are awaiting trial, or who have been sentenced to serve time. Their duties include enforcing rules and regulations, conducting searches for contraband, inspecting facilities for security breaches, overseeing inmate activities, and escorting individuals in custody between locations. Working in shifts, often including nights, weekends, and holidays, correctional officers play a crucial role in the justice system, managing a challenging and sometimes dangerous environment.
