Hi, I am Sam Turco, Professor Emeritus of Biochemistry at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. I feel I have the experience to be able to adequately respond to this question.
It is important to prioritize being together with family and friends during the holidays over studying for medical board exams. The stress of worrying about having success on the exams is exacerbated when associates are relaxing and having a fun time. Some studying should be done by setting aside a limited time each day for that purpose. But the majority of time and effort should be to mentally freshen up and spend quality time with others.
