My Summer as a Galway Girl

Hi friends! My name is Nadia from Georgia Tech! This summer, for the first time ever, I am in Europe! I am preparing myself for the next school year by taking classes in Galway, Ireland! I have been doing lots of work and taking almost a full class schedule in only 10 weeks.

Even though I've been studying a lot to keep my grades up, I've had time to explore the world! Some of the highlights have been watching the Euros tournament in Berlin, going to the Warner Bros Harry Potter Studio in London, and going on hikes in Connemara, Ireland. My all-time favorite place so far has been Dubrovnik, Croatia! Everything in Dubrovnik is to love. I've never been to a place so beautiful, rich in culture, and inviting.

I have been working hard to maintain high grades to set my final year at Tech up for enjoyment and ease while preparing for medical school applications. I have also begun considering programs abroad where I can learn medicine and immerse myself in a new, exciting culture.

I can't wait to be back on campus so that I can start helping other students prepare for medical school with Kaplan! I am excited to work hard and meet my Kaplan goals!

My best advice, currently, is to understand that all of your hard work that you've done so far is not for nothing. Even if there is more to do to get you to where you want to be, still celebrate and reward yourself for where you've gotten to so far. Understand that where you are now is a product of the work you've already done. Know that more work can be done, but that not being where you want to be doesn't discredit where you are. I think that is a lesson I've learned throughout my medical school aspirations journey… and one I need to remind myself of constantly!

Hey Nadia, sounds like you're having a whirlwind of a European adventure! From Berlin to Dubrovnik, you're hitting all the high notes! Your dedication to balancing studies and exploration is truly impressive. And preparing for medical school abroad? That's next level multitasking! Your advice about celebrating progress is spot on – make sure to treat yourself to some gelato or a wand from Harry Potter World! Can't wait for you to bring that Kaplan energy back to campus. Keep rocking those grades and living your best European dream!

Hi Nadia! This sounds like so much fun! It's so exciting to be able to travel the world while taking classes; you've got to be so busy! Don't forget to relax a little bit before the semester starts back up again. If you get a chance while you're in Europe, you should check out Rome or Amalfi in Italy! I went over spring break in 2023, and it was the most amazing experience! If you end up in Amalfi, it's a great place to relax a little and get some sun!

I love this advice; so true and so overlooked! It's important to focus on the big picture and the goals you have for yourself!

I'm so excited for you to be able to have this amazing experience abroad, soak it in while you're still there!
