Acid/base chemistry is the "hidden backbone" of the MCAT, and where many pre-meds hit a wall. While it formally lives in the General Chemistry category, its reputation as a high-yield topic stems from how it bridges the gap between simple math and complex human physiology. Whether you are calculating the pH of a solution or analyzing how the bicarbonate buffer system keeps a patient alive in the ICU, you are using the same fundamental logic. It is less about memorizing formulas and more about understanding the "vibe" of proton movement.
