Hi Pre-Meds!

We're kicking off our "How To Summer Smarter" Series with our very own MCAT Tutor and Instructor, Baasit Jamal. In the coming weeks, we will share his top four tips for things to do during the summer before med school. Baasit will also provide some general advice based on his personal experience.

Make sure to stay tuned for this four-part post and share your thoughts and questions in the comments below for our team to respond to!

Here's Tip #1:

"You've earned the privilege to attend your school.

Remember, each medical school you've been accepted to has already taken a look at your application, and multiple physicians and doctors have decided that you have what it takes to become a physician yourself. They believe that you're capable not just of doing well on tests and regurgitating material, but that you'll be a good doctor. Being a medical student is not an easy job; there will be long hours and a ton of stress. Even if you don't always believe in yourself, believe in them - and since they believed in you, trust in their experience and instincts that you are able to succeed here.

The path to medical school is different for everybody, but everybody ends up at the same place: as an attending physician. Whether you're like me, who got into medical school 7 years after my first application and after 4 cycles with tons of jobs in between, or you went straight from undergrad to medical school, you'll be with a group of like-minded people who are there to succeed just as much as you are. Lean on them while you're there, and you'll find success."
