🚨Breaking News: The LSAC is Making Changes - Again🚨

Options

Things are changing the LSAT - AGAIN! Here's what you need to know:

  • Starting July 31, anyone completing the LSAT writing portion on or after that date will utilize a new writing testing format, along with the larger test change announced in October 2023, the removal of logic games.
  • The new argumentative writing task is designed to give test takers a more authentic writing purpose than the former "decision-based" LSAT writing prompt, which focuses primarily on pure logical reasoning.
  • The addition of the 15 minutes of pre-writing analysis time makes the total writing portion 50 minutes, compared to the previous 35-minute portion of the exam. It's important to note that this format has much more reading for test takers.

The LSAC has stated that it will analyze the essays test takers produce in this new format with the long-term intention of eventually turning them into scored essays. Still, the scoring component won't affect this test cycle.
