Should I Take The Current LSAT Or Wait For The New One This August?
The LSAT is changing! LSAC made this decision based on rigorous research of over 2000,000 test sessions ensuring reliability and validity.
If you're unsure which LSAT to Take, here are some things to consider.
Take the Current LSAT with logic games
- If you plan to matriculate in the Fall of 2024, you need to take the LSAT with logic games.
If your strongest section is logic games, take advantage of the current test format. Take the new LSAT starting August 2024
- If you plan to matriculate in the Fall of 2025 or later, you can take the LSAT without logic games.
- If your strongest section of the exam is LR, wait to take the new version of the exam if it fits your timeline.
Which version will you be taking, and why?

I am choosing to take the new LSAT in August. My timeline has the space for it so I am deciding to schedule it out. I know several that are planning to take the current LSAT.

@mo_33671 It's great you have a plan that gives you a longer runway to prepare for such an important exam.
I wanted to make sure you heard about the writing portion update that will be in effect for the newly formatted LSAT. Please see the blog post from the LSAC.

For those of us taking the LSAT in August or later, we have MORE time to learn only TWO sections. Think of this as a blessing and work hard to ensure that your Reading Comprehension and Logical Reasoning sections are in top-notch shape for the test. Don't let the removal of Logic Games bring you down! You got this :)
