Don't Post Your Way Out of a Law Career
You don't need to be a LinkedIn Influencer to get into law school, but you do need to make sure your digital trail doesn't look like a liability.
Before you submit a single application, Google yourself in an incognito window. If your name is tied to old rants, party photos, or questionable memes, it’s time to scrub or go private.
If you don’t have a LinkedIn, make one! It’s the only platform where being what some people might call "stuffy" is actually the vibe. Use a clean, well-lit photo in professional attire and write a headline that signals your goals, something like: “Aspiring Law Student with a focus on Environmental Policy.” This controls the narrative so when a recruiter Googles you, this is the first thing they see.
If you wouldn't want a Judge or a Dean reading it back to you in an interview, don't post it. Keep the chaos for the group chat!
