Are You Setting Yourself Up for a Productive Summer?

Summer is approaching quickly! And whether you’re eyeing a T14 law school or looking to stay local, summer is the "make or break" season for law school applicants. It’s easy to feel like you should be doing everything but a scattershot approach usually leads to burnout rather than an acceptance letter.

To help you cut through the noise, use this Strategy Audit. It’s designed to identify your "Weakest Link" so you can spend your summer where it actually moves the needle.

The Strategy Audit

The LSAT Threshold

Is your current practice test score within 3 points of your goal?

  • If no: Your LSAT is your priority. Focus on Studying.
  • If yes: You have breathing room. Focus on Work or an Internship.

The Resume Gap Check

Do you have at least one professional experience on your resume that lasted more than 3 months?

  • If no: Admissions officers look for longevity and reliability. Prioritize Work to build professional stamina.

The Story Test

Look at your planned summer moves. Can you explain, in two sentences or less, how this experience leads directly to your "Why Law" essay? If it feels like a stretch, it probably is.

The Deadline Checklist

  • [ ] Identify Top 3: Choose three high-impact opportunities that align specifically with your "Weakest Link."
  • [ ] Request Letters: If an internship or program requires a recommendation, ask your professors this week. Don't wait until they head out for summer break.
  • [ ] The "Study" Reality Check: If you choose the Study Track, have you picked a specific test date (June or August)? Accountability requires a deadline.
