seems to me that there is much talk about college but not enough about their values, work values, their work preferences etc. What do you in order to get them more ready for this type of self learning?

To help your child learn more about what career would be a good fit for them, there are several steps they can take. First, they should spend some time reflecting on their interests skills and values. What subjects or activities do they enjoy, and what do they not enjoy? What are your strengths?

Next, explore different career options. Using online resources such as those from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (www.bls.org), O*NET Online (www.onetonline.org), or Youth.gov, they can research various jobs and industries.  Some sites also have career assessment tools available.  Do they know any professionals in the industries in which they are interested?  If so, conducting informational interviews with these folks can be helpful.  Additionally, internships, part-time jobs, or volunteering can provide valuable insights.

Finally, they may seek help from their guidance counselor who may provide personalized advice based on their unique strengths and goals. Hope this helps!
