Two Types of GPA

👑Did you know that your child may have two different GPAs? 👀
Most high schools calculate an unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale and also a weighted GPA, which gives more weight to rigorous courses, often (but not always) on a 5.0 scale. Different high schools calculate weighted GPAs differently. College admissions officers may look at a student's weighted and unweighted GPA, or they may calculate their own version of the weighted GPA. The bottom line is that a high GPA is good, especially if a student has taken challenging courses. Here is an article that dives into this college admissions topic.
