👑Tomorrow is the big day for the SAT®. We know students have been working hard, and today is all about setting themselves up for success.Â
Here's a friendly reminder of what your student should focus on today:
- Plan Ahead: Confirm the test location and account for potential traffic or delays.
- Get Organized: Ensure all necessary materials are laid out and ready to go including:
- Admission ticket (printed if required).
- Acceptable photo ID.
- Several sharpened No. 2 pencils (not mechanical).
- A good eraser.
- An approved calculator with fresh batteries (if allowed for the math sections).
- A watch (non-smartwatch, for time management).
- Light Review, Not Heavy Cramming: Encourage your student to lightly review key concepts and strategies. This isn't the time for intense studying or learning new material.Â
- Prioritize Relaxation and Rest: This is crucial for reducing anxiety, improving focus, and helping with recall. Students should engage in enjoyable activities such as reading for pleasure, listening to music, spending time with family or friends, or light exercise.
- Eat a Balanced and Familiar Dinner: Avoid trying new or heavy foods that might upset their stomach. A nutritious and familiar meal will help them feel their best.
- Hydrate: Encourage them to drink plenty of water throughout the day. Staying hydrated is essential for cognitive function.
- Get a Good Night's Sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep for a well-rested brain.
- Pack a Light and Healthy Snack for Tomorrow: If allowed, a small, nutritious snack like a banana, granola bar, or some nuts can provide a boost during breaks.
🚫 Things to Avoid Today:
- Pulling an all-nighter.
- Engaging in stressful arguments or situations.
- Trying to learn entirely new concepts.
- Overdoing screen time right before bed.
Remind your students that they've prepared for this, and tomorrow is their opportunity to show what they know. Encourage them to stay calm, read each question carefully, and trust their instincts.
Please help reinforce these tips with your students tonight. A calm and supportive environment at home can make a big difference.
We're all sending positive vibes their way for a successful test day! 💪
