Law School Rewind: Reflecting on the Past Semester & Setting Intentions

Ahhhh Spring semester - the Winter break has ended, last semester is behind us, but just because last semester has come and gone does not mean that we have no more lessons to learn from that time. Early every semester you should take time to reflect on the semester before and set your intentions for the weeks ahead to ensure that you continue to grow and improve as a law student.

  • What challenges did I face?
  • What could I have done better?

Law school is challenging for everyone in different ways. Figure out what your challenges were and then work to combat those challenges before they begin this semester.

  • What are my goals for the next semester?
  • How will I prioritize my work?

If there is anyone you should be honest with, it should be yourself. Don’t hold back and be realistic about your areas of growth, but also be realistic and have compassion for yourself. We are all just doing our best and you are learning which takes time. Be flexible, be willing to adapt, be open to new ideas and experiences.

  • What resources do I need to succeed?
  • How will I take care of myself?

And most importantly, stay focused on how the changes and improvements that you are making will impact your experience taking the bar exam. The bar requires a lot of you and while 3 years of law school can be taxing, you want to make sure that you are doing everything in your power to keep yourself happy and healthy and motivated to achieve your goals.
