🚨

Interviews are stressful, and it is important that you are prepared. Here are some tips for before OCI that you can use to make sure you are the best version of you on your interview day.

Research the company, the interviewer and the position:

  1. Understand the company's mission, values, and recent news.
  2. Research the specific job description and requirements.
  3. If you know who your interviewer is, research their background. What law school did they attend? What field do they practice in?

Practice answering common interview questions:

  1. Prepare thoughtful and concise responses to questions about your skills, experience, and career goals.
  2. Practice answering behavioral questions using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result).

Dress professionally:

  1. Choose attire that is appropriate for the company culture and the position you are applying for.

Arrive on time:

  1. Punctuality shows respect for the interviewer and the company. Remember, if you’re early, you’re on time. If you’re on time, you’re late. If you’re late, they may not want you to show up.

Make a good first impression:

  1. Greet the interviewer with a firm handshake and make eye contact.
  2. Introduce yourself confidently and clearly.

Be confident and enthusiastic:

  1. Project a positive attitude and demonstrate your passion for the opportunity.
  2. Speak clearly and articulate your thoughts effectively.

Listen actively and ask questions:

  1. Pay attention to the interviewer's questions and respond thoughtfully.
  2. Ask relevant questions to show your interest and engagement.

Practice mock interviews with friends or family:

  1. Conduct mock interviews with friends, family members, or career counselors to get feedback and improve your interview skills.

Review your answers after each interview:

  1. Reflect on your performance after each interview and identify areas for improvement.

Follow up after the interview:

  1. Send a thank-you note to the interviewer within 24 hours of the interview.
