Re: Ask a Medical Student Anything: What do you wish you knew before applying to medical school?
Hi @momo7869! There's no limit to the amount of times that you can apply to medical school, but there is a limit to how many times you can take the MCAT (7 times). Studying for the MCAT comes down to practice! Content is helpful, but the main thing the MCAT is testing you on is how you can apply that content in new situations, and there's really no way to get better at that than doing practice questions. Reading content out of a book can strengthen your general knowledge base, but it doesn't increase your critical thinking skills the way you need to excel on this exam.

Hi @Alyasar_MCAT! CARS is often considered the most difficult section on the MCAT for a number of reasons. The best way that I've found is to try to read the passage for understanding first. When I first started studying, I would read the CARS passage to try to get to the questions…but a lot of those questions ask you to understand the main idea, the author's opinions, and the author's tone, so I'd have to go back and reread it to get those things anyway! If you tend to highlight passages, jot down quick notes to make an outline, or really dig in depth, that's great! If you don't do any of those things right now, it might be helpful to give them a try and see if they make it easier to break down those walls of text. We go over these strategies and more in our MCAT courses, and I personally used the style that we call Interrogation the most on Test Day!
