Re: What are you doing this summer?
@Kimberly_Johnson Sure!
Mine goes a little something like when it comes to law school interviews: Hi, my name is Rosie. [Insert a connection you have with that person, if possible. For example, I see you are from Chicago. I am too! Which part?] As a pre-law student, I have been exploring all different types of law throughout my undergrad experience. Most recently, I have interned with a cannabis startup and worked with the International Cannabis Bar Association to create a Social Equity Toolkit to help new applicants! I see that your law school has a cannabis law course/club/opportunity. Can you tell me more about that?
This requires some research beforehand. For example, I need to ensure that the law school in this case has a cannabis law opportunity. If they do not and I am still interested in attending, I need to connect a different past experience of mine to something they have to offer, like a legal clinic opportunity.
Here is a graphic helping explain exactly what you want to include in your elevator pitch! Make sure it's very short and can be given in about how long it would take to explain yourself to someone new between the lobby and your destination on an elevator (hence the name).
