Pre-Law Community Holiday Brainstorm Contest Rules

  1. NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW.
  2. ENTRY PERIOD. Pre-Law Community Holiday Brainstorm  Contest (“Contest”) is sponsored by Kaplan North America, LLC (“Sponsor”) and begins at 12:01 A.M. EST December 12, 2023, and ends 11:59 P.M. PST on January 12,2024 (“Entry Period”).
  3. ELIGIBILITY. The Contest is open to legal residents of the contiguous United States, Hawaii, Alaska, and District of Columbia, excluding residents of Rhode Island and Puerto Rico, who are eighteen (18) years of age or older as of December 15, 2023. Officers, directors, representatives and employees of Sponsor, its parent, affiliates or subsidiaries, or their respective advertising, promotion, publicity, production, and judging agencies and their immediate families and household members are not eligible to enter the Contest. 
  4. HOW TO ENTER. During the Entry Period, members of the Kaplan Community https://community.kaplan.com/prelaw can enter two ways: 
    1. Choose New Post, at right, and craft a post on an academic or professional topic that will be insightful and/or intriguing to your pre-law peers; or
    2. Respond to an existing post with a comment on an academic or professional topic that will be insightful and/or intriguing to your pre-law peers. 
  5. SUBMISSION TERMS. By entering the Contest, each entrant expressly consents to the Sponsor, its agents and/or representatives, storing, sharing and using the personal information submitted with their Entry for the purpose of administering the Contest and in accordance with Sponsor’s Privacy Policy. This section does not limit any other consent(s) that an individual may provide the Sponsor or others in relation to the collection, use and/or disclosure of their personal information pursuant to the Contest or otherwise granted.

Submissions must not include: (a) content that violates any third-party rights, including, but not limited to, copyrights or trademark rights; (b) defamatory language; (c) threatening language; (d) content that is sexually explicit, obscene, or indecent; (e) promotes alcohol, tobacco, or drug use; or (f) any other content that we determine is not reasonably related to the Contest or violates Kaplan customary standards and practices in its sole discretion. Submissions that are not your original work will be disqualified. Multiple entrants are not permitted to share the same email address for submission. The "authorized account holder" is the natural person assigned an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted address.

All Entries become the property of the Sponsor. This Contest is subject to all applicable state and federal laws. The decisions of the Sponsor with respect to all aspects of this Contest are final and binding on all entrants without right of appeal, including, without limitation, any decisions regarding the eligibility/disqualification of Entries and/or entrants. ANYONE DEEMED BY THE SPONSOR TO BE IN VIOLATION OF THESE RULES FOR ANY REASON IS SUBJECT TO DISQUALIFICATION IN THE SOLE AND ABSOLUTE DISCRETION OF THE SPONSOR AT ANY TIME.

The Sponsor reserves the right, to withdraw or suspend this Contest in the event of any cause beyond the reasonable control of the Sponsor that interferes with the proper conduct of this Contest as contemplated by these Rules, including, without limitation, any error, technical problem, computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or technical failure. The Sponsor further reserves the right to cancel, amend or suspend this Contest, or to amend these Rules, in any way without prior notice or obligation, in the event of any accident, publishing, printing, administrative, or other error of any kind, or for any other reason whatsoever. Without limiting the generality of the forgoing, the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to administer an alternate test of skill as it deems appropriate based on the circumstances and/or to comply with applicable law. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest in any way (as determined by Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion) could be a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to take such legal action and seek such remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law.

The Sponsor reserves the right to adjust any of the dates, timeframes and/or other Contest mechanics stipulated in these Rules, to the extent necessary, for purposes of verifying compliance by any entrant with these Rules, or as a result of any technical or other problems, or in light of any other circumstances which, in the opinion of the Sponsor, in its sole and absolute discretion, affect the proper administration of the Contest as contemplated in these Rules, or for any other reason. In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the terms and conditions of these Rules and disclosures or other statements contained in any Contest-related materials, the terms and conditions of these Rules shall prevail, govern and control to the fullest extent permitted by law.

  1. WINNER SELECTION.  Three winners will be selected by the Sponsor on or before: January 12, 2024E at 11:59 P.M. PST after two rounds. In Round One, the submissions will be reviewed and ranked by Kaplan’s  LSAT prep experts based on the following criteria: the most useful, applicable, unique, and practical submissions. In Round Two, the final winners will be selected by a higher level judging panel based on their experience and expertise who will weigh the finalists’ entries as follows: Is the submission something that can be easily and realistically applied? 40%; Does the submission apply to more than one scenario/circumstance? 30%; Is the submission something unusual and effective? 30%.  In the event of a tie, the winner will be the post with the most Likes.

Sponsor shall have no liability for any winner notification that is lost, intercepted or not received by a potential winner for any reason. 

  1. PRIZES.  Three (3) winners will be selected to receive the prizes below. The prizes and quantities to be awarded by Sponsor for the Promotion are :

FIRST PRIZE: One (1) Exclusive LSAT Channel Three-Month Access, valued at $249

SECOND PRIZE: One (1) LSAT Course Book Set, valued at $120

THIRD PRIZE: One (1) LSAT Course Book Set, valued at $120

All prizes are non-transferable. No substitution of prizes for cash or other goods and services will be made, except Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to substitute any prize with a prize of comparable value. Any applicable taxes or fees are the winner's sole responsibility. 

  1. RELEASE AND INDEMNIFICATION: By entering the Contest, each Entrant: (a) releases and agrees to hold the Sponsor and their respective directors, officers, employees, parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, suppliers, and agents harmless from and against any and all costs, injuries, losses or damages of any kind, including, without limitation, bodily injury and property damage, or any other damage or loss, due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, to participation in this Contest, any Contest related activity, or from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize, or participation in any prize related activity; and (b) agrees to fully indemnify the Sponsor and their respective directors, officers, employees, parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, suppliers, and agents from any and all claims on the part of any third party or parties related in any way and for any reason to the Contest or to any prize including, without limitation, death, and personal or property damage or injury.

  3. THIS CONTEST IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED OR OTHERWISE RESTRICTED BY LAW.
