What's new with our courses
As the Dean of Financial Planning, I oversee the revision process for all of our CFP education courses and our professional designations. Our CFP education courses and the Exam Prep Review (EPR) course have been a part of The College since our founding in 1972. We have been preparing students to successfully pass the CFP Board final exam for over 50 years with our education materials and processes. With a pass rate that is about 10 points higher than the national average, it would be easy to rest on our laurels and leave things as they are.
When it comes to the actual material, that actually can apply. I mean really, how much has changed with term life insurance or modern portfolio theory in the last 25 years? But, when new legislation comes out, we evaluate how that will affect our courses and incorporate it appropriately. This keeps our course content as current and relevant as possible.
Where we are always looking to improve our courses is with the student experience. In the past 10 years we've added video content and continuously update our quizzes and exams so students are prepared for our own final exam and ultimately, CFP Board's exam. The way we do videos is constantly changing as well and we are now incorporating AI-supported images into the OnDemand videos and introductory videos for each course.
This same approach also applies to our professional designations and, since they are single course programs, they are often our testing ground for new ideas and presentation methods. Students can rest assured that whenever they take one of our courses that it is as current as possible and presented in as engaging a manner as we are able. And still, with all of the technological advancements, the main ingredient that makes our courses so good is the easy access to our faculty.
